When “free” isn’t better - The truth about gluten-free diets
There has been a growing concern recently involving gluten-free diets. It has been promoted to aid in weight loss, boost energy, and decrease health conditions such as headaches.  But what does “gluten-free” really mean? Gluten-free diets eliminate gluten from the diet which is a protein found in wheat, barely, and rye. Consuming a gluten-free diet is only necessary for people who have Celiac disease or intolerances to gluten. Gluten-free diets tend to be lower in fiber and other nutrients such as Vitamin D and B vitamins. Furthermore, this is no supporting evidence that a gluten-free diet is healthier except in patients who have intolerance.
